1. Make your website part of your standard business process:
  • Review your business process to identify at which point you can refer customers to your website for full details (make sure those full details are on your site)!
  • Make sure that every new customer is told "please check us out at www…."
  • Make sure your front-line staff know the website address by heart. (About 20% of the companies with a website have not told their front-line staff about it!)
  • Are there things you/your staff repeat regularly on the phone? Are there instructions you send out regularly? Are there lists of things your customers often phone up to check? If so, they should be on your website!
  • Launch your new product/service on the website in addition to your current marketing
  • Consider a CD-Rom version for your sales people to use when they are in customer's office/home as part of their sales presentation. Consider sending out CD-Rom instead of colour brochure. It's easier to update, and much cheaper.
  • If you use agents, support them with your website
2. Add your web address and own name e-mail addresses to all your stationary
3. Include them in all publicity materials and correspondence. Add to your e-mail as part of your signature
4. Display your web address prominently both inside and outside your office/shop/delivery van if appropriate. Your website address is easier to remember than your phone number.
5. Consider listing in on-line directories of your trade/professional association
6. Tell everyone you speak to about it "by the way, have you seen our web site?"
7. Do a mail shot to current and potential clients announcing the site
8. Consider our website visit monitor. For £60+vat, you'll be able to see how many visits and hits your site has attracted, where from etc
9. Consider a special offer on-line either as part of your launch publicity or monthly feature
10. If you export, consider using our search engine registration service
