Interpreter Training
Dr Kevin Lin is a leading specialist in the UK in Consecutive Interpreting between English and Chinese. His experience covers an extensive array of subject matters, from working at the highest level of states and governments at one extreme and helping out two people having a chat over dinner at the other.
That rare combination of breadth and depth has enabled him to see Consecutive Interpreting beyond the conventional perception of expressing meaning of a sentence in a different language. To him, the task of a Consecutive Interpreter is to deliver the speaker’s intended message as well as impact on audience. It means an interpreter must aim to re-produce the effect on audience in the target language. This definition has major implications in the study of interpreting and the training of interpreters.
Dr Kevin Lin regularly gives lectures and talks to universities in the UK and China . He has been guest-lecturing on MA in Translation/Interpreting at Bath University since 2000 and is developing a new MA in Chinese interpreting in the UK .
